An Introduction to iVault
Easy and Automatic
Human error accounts for 30% of all data loss. iVault minimises human involvement and therefore the opportunity for human error causing data loss.
The iVault software provides you with a clear graphical user interface that makes selecting your files easy and because iVault remembers your selections you don’t need to re-select files for every backup.
iVault allows you to schedule automatic backups. This is not only a great time saver but it aids greatly in the protection of data. Simply by ensuring your data is backed up regularly you are avoiding one of the most significant pitfalls of data backup and that is not doing it.
Safe & Secure
Failure to store backup data offsite leaves you exposed to local disasters such as fire, power surges, equipment failure and theft.
iVault encrypts and delivers your backup data offsite to our state of the art Data Centres so you can rest assured that it will be there should disaster strike.
To ensure your data is thoroughly protected iVault utilises high performance server technology and RAID storage, uninterruptible power supply’s and standby generators to ensure a very high degree of reliability within our Data Centre.
Backup History
File corruption and viruses account for 20% of all data loss.
iVault by default retains your last 20 backups in the data centres. That means you can recover any file from any of your last 20 backups so when you encounter a corrupt or damaged file, or you accidentally overwrite or delete a file you can recover the file from one of your previous backups.
Long Term Archiving
There is more to the effective management of data than just data backup.
Whether it be intellectual property, tax records, financial data, your life’s work or just cool stuff, keeping your data safe for the long term can be a priority.
With iVault this requirement is easily accommodated allowing you to retain offsite archives of your data for periods from several months to 10 years or more.
Long Term Archiving is an optional feature that can be activated at anytime and like normal backups, your data is available on-demand so there’s no waiting around to retrieve data from your archives.
Active Data Guardian
CD and Tape media is prone to failure and decay over time and is a hidden danger of using this media to backup.
The iVault Data Centres are monitored which means that iVault staff will be notified of any problems that arise so that it can be addressed immediately. The iVault data centres also actively verify the integrity of your data on a regular basis to ensure that it’s free from corruption. So when you go to retrieve your data there won’t be any of those nasty surprises.
Advanced Technology
Backing up using the Internet requires some smart technology to minimise the volume of data transferred each time you backup. Although transparent to the user, iVault utilises powerful differential imaging and compression technology to ensure your backups are handled efficiently and reliably.
